Intro

Hi! My name is Raul Esquivel.

My name is Raul Esquivel, and I make a living as a graphic designer, developer, digital artist, illustrator & photographer in my hometown of Los Angeles, CA. I have more than 18 years of design knowledge that I have picked up as a result of working for major clients/companies such as Sony Pictures, Fox, Warner Brothers, Paramount, Universal Pictures, Regal Cinemas, Red Bull, Mastercard, Penguin Books, Ticketmaster, and Disney. I'm a self-starter with major entrepreneurial tendencies that often result in me seeking out information for myself and learning new things in order to get the job done. I love challenging myself and I'm constantly working on new design projects whenever I can.

When I’m not busy making things, I enjoy being in nature or visiting local museums. I also love drawing and watching documentaries about paranormal stuff and space.

About Me

Typography and drawing letter-shapes has alway been something I've been doing ever since I was able to pick up a pencil. I'm a designer at heart, specializing in the craft of creating unique typefaces that have a story to tell.

Graphic design is something I’ve been passionate about for a large majority of my life. I really enjoy showing my process and documenting what I’m doing and how I’m doing it step-by-step. Especially anything related to typography and how to make fonts. Simply put, I love teaching people who have an interest in graphic design but who may not know how to go about learning the subtle intricacies you only pick up after years of being an active designer in a professional setting.

My adventure into the world of design began almost 20 years ago, but it was about 10 years back that I found my true passion within the nuanced field of typography and lettering. Over the years, I've had the chance to work with several bands by creating custom fonts, logos, websites and merch. It's an experience that marries my love for music with my professional skills, creating something truly unique each time.

But life isn't all about work for me. When I'm not designing, I indulge in my hobbies like playing the guitar, dabbling in photography and videography, and even writing short stories and blogging. Each of these pursuits feeds back into my work, giving me fresh ideas and perspectives that I bring to my font designs.

At the core, I'm someone who needs to be constantly busy and creative. I've always been hard-working, driven by a desire to push myself further, to explore new boundaries in design and in life. Every font I create is a piece of that journey, a testament to pushing past limits and surprising not just others, but myself with what's possible.

Thanks for dropping by Eagle & Bison. It's more than just a type foundry to me—it's a reflection of my journey in design, my passions outside of it, and my continuous quest for creativity and self-improvement.
